Message from the President
Physiological Society of Nepal (PSN) is a non-profit organization, has been established by physiologists from Nepal working in the diverse field of research. The main aim of the society is to promote physiology teaching and research in the country and fostering technical information, experience, and expertise.
COVID-19 pandemic condition has hampered several essential activities worldwide. It is the same here. During this COVID-19 condition, our society could conduct a few activities online. Now we have planned to organize workshops and conferences online for the dissemination of knowledge and skills. We hope to promote research in collaboration. Some of our physiologists are involved in COVID-19 related research. We aim to foster it further.
According to WHO report 2021, World Health Statistics; death from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is increasing in the South-East Asia region especially, from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, neurological disorders, and cancer. Nepal is one of the member countries of this region. Fortunately, several physiologists in the county are working in these fields. Some of our physiologists are working on high altitude physiology also. We have a lack of funds for the research. We seek national and international financial support to foster the research. We hope to increase physiological research in Nepal.
I extend my sincere gratitude to all members of this society for electing me as the President of this society for the period of 2021-2023. It is a great honor and privilege for me to be entrusted with this important responsibility. I wish to express my appreciation to all members for their active participation in the growth of this society.
